Story Behind the Curve
From April 2021- September 2023 WIC was able to take advantage of some covid incentives and received a temporary increase in monthly fruit and vegetable allotments. Effective October 1, 2023 the monthly amount a WIC participant will receive each month to purchase fruits and vegetables is likely to decrease by approximately 40%. This will likely increase the redemption rate, but the individuals are receiving significantly less money to spend of fruits and veggies.
